Description
These Sticky Sweet Chili Chicken Thighs are an easy and delicious weeknight dinner ready in just 25 minutes. Juicy chicken thighs are air fried or baked until crispy, then coated with a sweet, savory and sticky chili glaze that caramelizes beautifully.
Ingredients
- 8 bone-in chicken thighs (boneless can also be used)
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- For the Sticky Glaze:
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel to help achieve crispy skin.
- Season the chicken thighs with avocado oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Place the chicken skin-side down in the air fryer and cook at 375°F for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sticky glaze by mixing the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and oyster sauce in a small bowl.
- Baste the chicken several times with the sticky glaze while cooking. Baste at least 3 times to build a thick, caramelized coating.
- Continue cooking for about 10 more minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- For an extra crispy and caramelized finish, broil for the final 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye on the chicken to prevent burning.
- Remove the chicken from the oven or air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Serve over jasmine rice or with your favorite vegetable side dishes.
Notes
- Oven method: Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Roast the chicken skin-side down at 400°F for 20 minutes. Flip and roast for another 10 minutes until the skin is crispy.
- For crispy chicken, make sure to pat the chicken thighs completely dry with paper towels before seasoning.
- For extra caramelization, broil the chicken for an additional 2 minutes at the end.
